Not-so-subtle hints
Algorithmic persuasion for your holiday wishlist

A pushy grandma. An adorable eight year-old. They’re both hard to say no to. So we hired them to help people get the gifts they really wanted for the holidays. First our consumers input the gift they wanted from Verizon’s list of products. Then they chose a cute kid or pushy grandma, and the name of who they wanted to buy them the gift. This generated a custom, sharable video that helped them seal the deal.

By shooting a wide variety of unique short cuts, arranging them in a strategically organized database and leveraging a custom algorithm to pull from based on the user input, the possibilities were nearly endless, and click-through rates increased by 394%.
